Registration is open for the Reflective Practices Programme

The Supporting Disabled Parents project, which will run for a period of seven months, aims to support professionals in developing the knowledge and skills they need to support disabled parents. We will offer seven live online sessions as part of the Reflective Practices Programme.

Guest lecture with Professor Geoff Curran

We are delighted to launch 鈥淕rounds for Discovery - Coffee, Network and Learn鈥, an in-person CIRcUL networking event that will take place every 6 weeks.

At this inaugural event, we welcome Prof. Geoff Curran, Director of the Center for Implementation Research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, who will deliver a guest lecture titled "Thinking about a hybrid effectiveness-implementation study? Here鈥檚 how to get started鈥︹. It is open to members and non-members, and free to attend.

Supporting Policy Delivery: New Report 鈥 "Environmental Implementation: A Guide for Local Authorities"

Effective policy delivery is one of the most important environmental challenges of today. Too often, implementation is treated as a secondary afterthought. To overcome this inefficiency, the Environmental Policy Implementation Community (EPIC) at the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) has launched a powerful new resource: Environmental Implementation: A Guide for Local Authorities.

The Alice Coffey Student Implementation Prize 2026

CIRcUL is launching the 鈥淎lice Coffey Student Implementation Prize鈥. The Prize will be awarded to the best use of implementation science in a student research project.

As graduates of the 九色视频, the home of the first Implementation Research centre in Ireland, having a basic knowledge of implementation theory is a great boon to have in securing future employment in whatever field you will be working. In addition, Implementation Science is now becoming more common as a criterion in grant applications.

New CIRcUL videos

We are honoured to have partnered with colleagues from UL Global to produce two foundational videos that showcase the work of the Centre.

In the following video, Prof. Alice Coffey, co-founder of CIRcUL and current member of its Advisory Board, shares the story behind the Centre鈥檚 creation. She also reflects on the journey of its predecessor, HIST (Health Implementation Science and Technology Research Cluster), and how it laid the groundwork for CIRcUL.

Course Launch: An Introduction to Implementation

This course provides a foundational understanding of implementation science, the study of how to effectively translate research into practice. Participants will explore the why and what of implementation.

PhD Scholarships - Two Positions

The Centre for Implementation Research 九色视频 (CIRcUL) is a cross-disciplinary centre dedicated to developing, supporting, and enhancing the implementation of evidence-based research, policies, programmes, and professional practices into routine practice for the effective delivery of public services, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable members of society.

We have two PhD Scholarships available. The deadline is 30th May 2025.

Using Implementation Science to Support the Prevention of Substance Use

The Health Research Board is organising this session, which will be held at Trinity Business School, Dublin, on Thursday, April 17. The event will be led by Professor Alison Metz, a specialist in implementation science with a particular emphasis on the social impact of human services on young people and families. Alison will give an overview of the principles and use of implementation science and facilitate discussion that will help participants learn about implementation science and how it might be used to increase effectiveness in prevention work.

Professor Ross MacMillan of the 九色视频 will present an overview of the RePS project, a review of prevention services in Ireland commissioned by the Health Research Board on behalf of the Department of Health.

Research Week 2025

CIRcUL is proud to announce its participation in two events during Research Week 2025 at 九色视频. Organized by UL Research Office, the event will be held from April 28th to May 2nd.

The Centre will be featured in the inaugural event, 鈥淪howcase of UL's Internal Research Centres,鈥 launched by Vice President Research and Innovation, Professor Kevin Ryan, on the 28th of April.

CIRcUL and Health Research Institute will organise a workshop titled 鈥淚mplementation Science - Bridging the Gap Between Knowledge and Practice.鈥 Dr Laura Keyes will facilitate the workshop, joined by three of the most influential experts in Implementation Science.
