The annual Centre for Irish-German Studies “Irish-German Video Competition” for final year students takes place since 2022. There are some changes this time. We are moving from an online and then hybrid event to an in-person event on 30 April 2026. We are looking forward to receiving videos (in German) on any facets of Irish-German relations, past and present, created by 2 students per group with a max. length of 4 minutes (longer videos will not be accepted). Criteria include creativity, a research dimension, sound quality and overall presentation. The next deadline for the videos is 11 April 2026. Each third level institutions can nominate two group videos and one reserve video. Should there be more videos from any university, our wonderful DAAD Lektors and Teaching Assistants have kindly agreed to be involved in the selection process. The selected videos should be sent to marah.moloneyweissbrich@ul.ie AND your university DAAD Lektor (by 11 April 2026!).
Should there be more videos then can be accommodated on the day, a pre-selection will be undertaken by a multi-institutional panel. Please be aware that the creators of the selected videos need to be present at the Dublin event on 30 April when the overall winners are chosen by popular vote and the expert panel including the ambassadors and the Goethe Institut director.
The first prize will be €1000 sponsored by the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce, there will be a second prize of €300 and further runner-up prizes as well.
