During the opening week of November, the School of Law at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ was delighted to host a delegation of twelve representatives from the School of Law and Justice Studies at Liverpool John Moore’s University. In addition to taking a tour of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s campus, the delegation visited various locations in Limerick (Henry Street Garda Station, Limerick Prison, Courts Complex Mulgrave Street), as well as the Garda College in Templemore, Co. Tipperary.
On 5 November 2025, Dr. Alan Cusack delivered a paper entitled, ‘Protecting Vulnerable Suspects: A Survey of Existing and Emerging Pre-Trial Safeguards in Ireland’. This was followed by a presentation from the CAST team, led by Superintendent Dr. Andrew Lacey, An Garda SÃochána.
The recent visit represented a further collaborative development between the two institutions and in July 2025, Dr. Andrew Fisher (Liverpool John Moore’s University) visited the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ to meet Professor Shane Kilcommins for the purpose of discussing the suite of policing programmes offered by the School of Law to An Garda SÃochána.
The School of Law is grateful to Superintendent Dr. Andrew Lacey for coordinating the event.
