Dr Catherine Porter, Margaret O'Sullivan and Liz Gabbett from the School of History and Geography hosted a special event for National Heritage Week 2025, celebrating the importance of Ordnance Survey bench marks to Ireland’s heritage. The ‘Locating Bench Marks, Preserving Heritage’ team was joined by archivists and surveyors from Tailte Éireann, who led a live surveying demonstration in People’s Park, Limerick. Attending members of the public got a hands-on glimpse into the history and techniques of measuring and mapping height across Ireland.
