BBC Radio 4 to Air Six-Part Dramatisation of Joseph O’Connor’s Star of the Sea

BBC Radio 4 is set to bring Professor Joseph O’Connor’s acclaimed novel Star of the Sea to life in a six-part dramatisation beginning on Monday, 6 October 2025. The series will be introduced the day before, on Sunday, 5 October, by Colm Tóibín, emeritus Laureate for Irish Fiction, as part of the station’s Opening Lines programme.

Star of the Sea, a gripping historical novel set during the Irish Famine, will be divided into 6 episodes airing throughout the week.
