The Accountability Research Cluster (ARC) at @KBS hosted the 5^th Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) Ireland conference, ‘Review and renew: Reflections and renewed commitment to sustainability’  at the Kemmy Business School on November 10^th and 11^th. We had an excellent plenary session with Prof. Jan Bebbington, Co-chair of CSEAR International and Rubin Chair in Sustainability in Business, Director of the Pentland Centre, University of Lancaster. 

This was followed by a compelling conversation with Ambassador David Donoghue, co-facilitator of the intergovernmental negotiations on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs, which was eloquently hosted by Emeritus Professor Sheila Killian. 

Over the two-day conference, we had three excellent paper sessions from academics from Ireland, the UK, Canada, the USA, and Italy. On Tuesday morning, we had two excellent PhD paper sessions, chaired by Prof John Ferguson, Co-Director of CSEAR, with discussants from the CSEAR Ireland Steering Committee. IAASA generously sponsored two awards for best PhD paper presentations; the worthy recipients were Ellen Jordan (KBS) and Andra-Larisa Suciu, Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The awards were presented by John Ferguson and Eileen Townsend, Head of Organisational Development, Irish Auditing & Accounting Supervisory Authority.
