Dr Elhassan Abdalla Elsayed is an Associate Professor A in Medical Education and New Programme Development at the School of Medicine.
With over two decades of global leadership in health professions education, he has an extensive and distinguished career spanning Ireland, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan. His work has had a transformative impact on medical schools worldwide, where he has pioneered the development of accreditation systems, led significant curriculum reforms, and established innovative Master's and PhD programmes in Health Professions Education. His leadership was recently recognised with the prestigious 2024 AFMC Charles Boelen International Award on Social Accountability, underscoring his deep commitment to integrating social accountability and equity into health professions education worldwide.
His expertise spans curriculum development, quality assurance, faculty development, and strategic leadership in higher education. He is a sought-after speaker and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including influential AMEE Guides on social accountability and curriculum integration, as well as the first international book on social accountability of medical schools. He is a Fellow and Member of the Board of the Academy of Medical Educators, UK. He is also an active contributor to global health education, serving on multiple international committees and task forces dedicated to advancing socially accountable and equitable health professions education.
