The School of Education Research Committee collaborated with the EDI Committee to host a successful on-campus event focused on enhancing communication skills for postgraduate researchers. The day featured an interactive interview workshop facilitated by colleagues from UL Careers Division before lunch and a panel discussion with experienced doctoral examiners and supervisors. Thanks to Careers Advisor, Patsy Ryan, and to Dr Petra Elftorp, Dr Orla McCormack, Dr Joanne McCormack and Dr Raymond Lynch for their support and involvement. The event was praised as 'really helpful' for its practical relevance and supportive atmosphere, helping students build confidence and connections within the research community. One participant commented as follows:
'The interactive element in the morning with the opportunity to practice interview skills may prove beneficial for PGR etc. To get concrete guidance from School of Ed staff re the viva, to hear their own experiences and other advice was extremely valuable and greatly appreciated. It helped to humanise the viva experience'.
