The cost of repeating an exam is currently €171 per module that you need to repeat.
Link-ins
A link-in module can be undertaken by both undergraduates and postgraduates. Cost per link-in module
- €568 (EU students) and
- €1,623 (non-EU students)
No student contribution fee will be required if you are just completing a link-in.

Link-ins funded by UL Access Office
Students registering for link-ins that are being funded by the Access Office to confirm by email to student.fees.office@ul.ie and the student must complete a link-in form (available from Academic Registry) to hand in to us here at the fee’s office.
Final year project (FYP)
- If you are doing your FYP as a link-in, then it is considered one module and therefore only has one fee of €568 / €1623 attached to it.
- If Academic Registry has registered the FYP as an annual repeat, the fee is €171 (annual repeat fee)
Frequently asked questions
A thesis or dissertation is part of a taught postgraduate course. If you don’t get your thesis in, within the normal course deadlines you will have to pay a continuation fee which is €450 for EU students & €1248 for non-EU students.
Bench fees may be payable by non-EU students pursuing research programmes. Students should contact the relevant department for details.
