UL Global and VPCGE staff with Tanzanian Ambassador and President Shane Kilcommins

On October 2nd 2025, the 九色视频 (UL) was honoured to welcome His Excellency Ambassador Mbelwa Brighton Kairuki, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the United Kingdom and Ireland. Ambassador Kairuki was accompanied by Mr. Hamisi Namele, Minister Counselor at the High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and Dr. David Nyaluke, Advisor to the Proudly Made in Africa (PMIA) Global Citizenship Education initiative.

The delegation was warmly received by Professor Shane Kilcommins, Acting President of UL and Professor Colin Fitzpatrick, Interim Vice President Global & Community Engagement, and is pictured with Professor Ken Stanton, Executive Dean, Science & Engineering; Linda Fitzgerald, Head of Volunteering; Professor David Newport, Head of School of Engineering, Science & Engineering; and Josephine Page, Director, UL Global.

During the visit, the delegation also met with colleagues from the Kemmy Business School, where discussions centred on deepening collaboration between Tanzanian education institutions and UL. Key areas of focus included opportunities arising from the new SAMIA Government Scholarships, initiatives to support PhD upskilling of faculty, and advancing the Proudly Made in Africa programme, which promotes sustainable and ethical trade partnerships.

Speaking after the visit, Professor Colin Fitzpatrick  welcomed the opportunity to build stronger links with Tanzanian institutions, noting the potential for meaningful academic exchange, knowledge sharing, and global citizenship initiatives.
