Collage of events for UL Global Welcome Week A25
Friday, 5 September 2025

UL Global extended a warm céad míle fáilte this week as they hosted their Welcome Week for over 1,500 newly arrived international students marking the start of their academic journey in Limerick.

The comprehensive seven-day orientation programme is designed to help students settle into life ɫƵ, make new connections, and experience Irish culture from their very first week on campus. The initiative also provides essential guidance on student supports and services, ensuring new arrivals have the tools to thrive both academically and socially.

Highlights of the programme included speed friending sessions, a campus scavenger hunt, a traditional Irish music evening in the Stables Club, and morning yoga in the UL Arena. The University Concert Hall played host to events such as Comedy Bingo and the spectacular Celtic Steps performance on Friday evening. Students also enjoyed GAA taster sessions with UL GAA Club, consent and culture workshops, and a shopping trip to Parkway.

Off-campus activities introduced students to their new surroundings, with a Saturday morning visit to the Limerick Milk Market and city centre, and the week concluded with a memorable trip to the Aran Islands on Sunday.

Speaking at the close of the week, Yvonne Crosse, International Student Engagement Manager said:
“Welcome Week is about more than orientation, it’s about community. We want every international student to feel supported, connected, and excited to begin their journey ɫƵ.”

Welcome Week continues to be a cornerstone of UL Global’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and vibrant international student community, reflecting UL’s strong tradition of global engagement, cultural and academic exchange.
