On Wednesday evening everyone enjoyed traditional cuisine, music, dance, history and even some cultural memes from the students' home university countries. A huge round of applause was given to and for their wonderful presentation on the Irish language and colloquialisms, culture, and their lovely table full of Irish treats and even an Irish geansa铆 (jumper) and they presented the age-old Irish question - Barrys or Lyons tea?
On Thursday EMERGE staff and students were invited to the Gala where they enjoyed a delicious meal followed by a mesmerizing waltz dance by students and staff accompanied by classical music.
Alli and Fiona had the pleasure of acquainting so a multitude of remarkable individuals working with EMERGE. Such alliances play a crucial role in bringing Europe's margins together by actively engaging with students and staff. One major bonus was getting to see the beautiful city of Bansk谩 Bystrica with its stunning mix of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture surrounded by stunning, tree-covered hills that can be seen in every backdrop of the city. It looks as though it has been taken directly out of a picture or fantasy book.
