Damian P. Clancy LL.B, LL.M, Post Grad Dip (Law), Solicitor (Eng & Wales), MCIArb
I returned to study having spent over twenty years working in the legal profession as a solicitor and arbitrator in family law. It was while attending an online lecture given by a current PhD candidate, as a guest lecturer, that I was introduced to UL.
I found the LL.M (General) course details online and discovered that it offered an advanced family law module and from that moment I realised, having always wanted to do a master's degree, that this was where I wanted to study. The other modules available on the course were on subjects which were equally diverse and stimulated my interests, especially those involving human rights.
The breadth of my research, the intellectual dialogues with fellow students on topics I had never explored or discussed and the ability for me to challenge myself was simply awe-inspiring. The course allowed me to take custody of my studies and, in particular, my writing, to delve deeply into topics which piqued and challenged my curiosity and my aptitude as a writer/researcher.
The support on the course and the amazing facilities ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, especially the library, are world class. I would strongly recommend anyone to consider applying. My studies have encouraged me to pursue a PhD in Family Law ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ where I have not only expanded my research but also my abilities as a teacher, writer, communicator and facilitator. Every day brings new challenges and exciting insights. I am having a fantastic journey ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and would invite anyone who has ever thought about doing it to stop thinking and just do it!
