This MSc Perinatal Mental Health can lead graduates to the following sectors and careers:
- Clinical nurse/midwife specialist
- Advanced practice posts
- Advanced nurse/midwife practitioner
A graduate of the MSc Perinatal Mental Health shared her experience.
鈥業 qualified as a general nurse and then completed a postgrad in midwifery. As a labour ward nurse, I was very interested in the emotional side of midwifery. While we are very good at the physical side and the obstetric emergencies, I felt I had a knowledge deficit on the emotional side. Perinatal mental health is such an important area of study because of its prevalence.
In this course, I received great online and on-site support on how to write academically again.
In practice, we are seeing more and more women everyday coming in with pre-existing mental health conditions or new onset of symptoms. We have a duty of care to support these women. I do feel my care has improved as a result of doing this course.鈥
