This Professional Diploma in Mathematics for Teaching can lead graduates to the following sectors and careers:

  • Qualified post primary mathematics teacher

Jeremy Verrier graduated with a Professional Diploma in Maths for Teaching in 2025.

I did the course because I had been teaching Maths for years without a recognised qualification. The course delivered in three areas for me: third level Mathematics knowledge, pedagogy support and connection with the Mathematics community.

The university level Mathematics was well taught through accessible notes and video lectures. The support for this in the form of tutorials was excellent with a great key tutor who won my attention and respect. This made the exams approachable and strangely enjoyable.

The pedagogy was well taught with many real-life examples and good connection to the literature. This made the lesson plans much easier to prepare and broadened my teaching.

The greatest impact on me was at last feeling like a member of the mathematics community and no longer an outsider. The course and its managers welcomed me and my comments, and this has afforded opportunities for me that were inaccessible before.

I wholeheartedly recommend the course to anyone who is serious about Mathematics teaching and who is prepared to commit themselves to the study of third level Mathematics and the methods of teaching second level Mathematics.
