The world of work is constantly evolving. To thrive, organisations must adapt by understanding how people think and perform, structuring work effectively, and creating opportunities for learning and development.
This Master of Science (MSc) in Work and Organisational Psychology and MSc in Work and Organisational Behaviour equip students for people-focused roles in organisations by applying psychological theories to real-world challenges.
Designed for both full-time and part-time students seeking advanced knowledge in the field
Through interactive, research-informed teaching, students gain the knowledge, skills, and tools to become reflective practitioners who enhance both organisational performance and employee wellbeing.
Taught by award-winning educators and leading experts, the programme covers areas such as recruitment and selection, leadership, learning and development, motivation and performance, psychometric assessment, work design, employee wellbeing, and organisational change.
Students also have the opportunity to earn a British Psychological Society (BPS) qualification in psychometric testing.
Both are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD). The psychology track is also accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
Students with a recognised background in psychology are eligible to enter and graduate from the MSc in Work and Organisational Psychology.
Students with other undergraduate backgrounds in a related field are eligible to enter and graduate from the MSc in Work and Organisational Behaviour.
During this programme, you will:
- Build a strong understanding of key concepts, perspectives, and approaches in Work and Organisational Psychology/Organisational Behaviour.
- Learn to assess and apply this knowledge in response to the changing demands of work (e.g., global, societal, organisational).
- Use practical tools, methods, and processes to explore and solve work-related challenges.
- Design, implement, and review interventions that help organisations tackle real problems.
- Work effectively with others to create solutions to complex workplace issues.
- Learn how to apply sustainable and ethical decision-making in leadership and management.
- Strengthen professional skills such as critical thinking, giving and receiving feedback, and reflective practice.
- Learn how to contribute evidence-based and creative ideas to build healthier, more sustainable workplaces.
Key Information:
- Complete full-time in one year or part-time over two years
- Delivered on campus
- Full-time students: lectures held twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday)
- Part-time students: lectures held once a week (Tuesday in year 1, Thursday in year 2)
- Modules taught during autumn and spring semesters
- Students attend a short course in psychometric testing between semesters, requiring attendance at two days of online classes
- Submit dissertation at the beginning of August (year 2 for part-time students), completed over the summer
- Independent study, group work, and dissertation research will require work outside scheduled lecture hours

- Regular feedback from faculty and peers through group work and assessments
Full-time
Autumn Semester
- will introduce key theories of work design and employee wellbeing, and encourage you to evaluate their effectiveness in various work contexts.
- explores key leadership concepts and empowers you to be an ethical and effective leader in the workplace.
- equips you with the ability to gather, analyse, and present empirical evidence that helps organisations make informed and high-quality decisions and will help you to complete the dissertation component of the programme.
- will help you to develop career readiness by building self-awareness, gaining insights from employers, and engaging directly with top companies in an employer-led assessment centre, strengthening employability, communication, and professional presentation skills.
Spring Semester
- will help you understand how psychology is applied to selection and assessment in organisations, and build your knowledge and competencies around the ethical, professional, and legal conduct needed to develop selection and assessment systems in workplaces.
- introduces the key theories and current trends in managing workplace performance and motivation, and helps you understand both the multi-level factors influencing them and methods that could be applied to improve them.
- will deepen your career development by helping you to recognise your strengths, understand emotional intelligence, build professional networks, prepare confidently for employer mock interviews with feedback, and create an actionable career plan for future success.
- will give you an insight into the learning and development process in the workplace, and enable you to design and evaluate learning, training and development programmes for a range of organisations.
Summer Semester
- Your dissertation modules ( and ) require you to prepare and deliver an independent research project in an area of work and organisational psychology. This process includes design, ethical approval, data collection and analysis and the presentation of evidence and arguments in a written report.
- develops your knowledge and practical skills in applying, interpreting and evaluating psychometric tests in the workplace. Completing this module enables you to become a Registered Test User with the British Psychological Society.

- Applicants should ideally hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honour (grade 2:1) in a relevant discipline such as psychology, human resource management, human resource development, or business management. Three or more years’ work experience is preferred for applicants with a second-class honour (grade 2:2) degree.
- If you are applying to the MSc in Work and Organisational Psychology, you must have an undergraduate degree accredited by the Psychology Society of Ireland (PSI) or a recognised international equivalent.
- The university may shortlist and invite you to an interview.
