Brief Description
Aesthetic and expressive activities—such as dance and gymnastics—are an essential part of the Physical Education curriculum, helping learners build creativity, body awareness, and confidence.
This 6-week, Level 8 micro-credential is designed for students preparing to teach Physical Education and looking to fulfil curriculum requirements in this key area.
³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô explore how to design and deliver inclusive, safe, and engaging activities that support learners’ physical and expressive development.
³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô learn through a blend of online materials and a practical, on-campus workshop. ³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô study key curriculum models, performance evaluation, and inclusive teaching strategies while developing your own physical literacy and teaching confidence.
This module can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) or as part of a pathway to a larger award.
During this module, you will:
Develop fundamental movement skills and create expressive sequences in both dance and gymnastics
Explore how aesthetic and expressive activities contribute to inclusive education in schools and local communities
Learn how to integrate curriculum models, digital tools and feedback strategies to enhance pupil performance and engagement
Critically reflect on your own learning and cultural responsiveness in the context of physical education
Key Information
This micro-credential will be delivered online over 6 weeks.
You will be assessed using continuous skill-based assessment including quizzes and practical.
On-campus days are compulsory. Students must attend all sessions to receive the certificate of completion

To help you to be successful on this course:
Applicants should hold or be near completion of a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8, undergraduate degree, BSc or BA) with at least a second-class honours (2:2) in a 180 ECTs related discipline with 60 ECTs Physical Education component.
If applicants have a lower result or an unrelated qualification, they may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they can provide evidence of relevant work experience (Recognised Prior Learning).
