The aim of this module is to prepare students to actively use Irish in their professional context. It is an intensive language course. All language skills are developed, and common language themes in everyday working life are dealt with. Students focus on specific terminology relating to the professional setting. Cultural awareness and language learner self-awareness are also developed. The primary goal is to encourage and develop the confidence of participants to gradually use more Irish in the workplace
PATHWAY
This micro-credential represents a single module within a larger further award (eg. Certificate, Diploma, Masters). By taking this micro-credential you may be eligible to apply for a credit exemption should you progress to study for a further award.

Talking about your professional practice; describing services and responsibilities; giving directions; exploring possibilities; problem solving; mediation and conflict management; meetings; time management; project management; Irish place names and surnames; writing letters and e-mail; writing for the web; writing for social media. Grammar and language accuracy will be addressed in the context of the MicroCred topics.
Beidh formhór na n-iarratasóirà ina mic léinn lánfhásta (23 bliain d’aois nó nÃos sine ar an 1 Eanáir sa bhliain chláraithe). Féadfaidh mic léinn reatha Ollscoil Luimnigh iarratas a chur isteach freisin. Nà mór d’iarratasóirà nach mic léinn reatha de chuid OL nó mic léinn lánfhásta iad an Ardteistiméireacht (nó cáilÃocht aitheanta eile atá ar chomhchéim léi) a bheith bainte amach acu le sé ábhar ar a laghad tráth an chláraithe. Caithfear na riachtanais seo a leanas a chomhlÃonadh: dhá ghrád H5 (Ardleibhéal), ceithre ghrád O6 (Gnáthleibhéal) nó ceithre ghrád H7 (Ardleibhéal). The majority of applicants will be mature students (23 years or over on 1 January, year of registration). Current ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ students may also apply. Applicants who are not current UL or mature students, are required to hold, at the time of enrolment, the established Leaving Certificate (or approved equivalent) with a minimum of six subjects. These must include: two H5 (Higher) grades and four O6 (Ordinary) grades or four H7 (Higher) grades. Subjects must include Maths, Irish or another language, & English. Grade F6 in Foundation Maths also satisfies minimum entry requirements. A minimum H4 grade in Irish or TEG B1 is required and applicants should take the to assess and confirm their level.

This course will go ahead if it meets minimum enrolment number.
Completing this module doesn’t guarantee you a place in a full programme. If you want to apply for a full programme, you must meet the specific entry requirements for that programme.
