Brief Description
Artificial intelligence and machine learning are transforming every sector, from healthcare and finance to manufacturing and beyond.
This 7-week, Level 9 micro-credential introduces core techniques in machine learning a powerful application of AI that enables systems to learn from data and improve over time. You’ll build confidence in training, validating, and evaluating models for real-world problems.
Designed for learners with a technical background, this module supports upskilling in one of today’s most in-demand fields.
This module is associated with the MSc in Artificial Intelligence
It can be taken on its own as a University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award.
During this module, you will:
Build hands-on machine learning skills in supervised learning using Python, with exposure to industry-relevant toolboxes for real-world classification problems
Understand and manage key challenges in machine learning such as overfitting, bias, and model complexity improve model performance and reliability.
Apply and evaluate key machine learning techniques, including logistic regression, neural networks, and SVMs, to make data-driven decisions.
Boost your career in AI or data science or use this module as a stepping stone toward a master’s degree in artificial intelligence or machine learning.
Key Information:
This micro-credential will be delivered online over 7 weeks.
You will be assessed using continuous assessment methods, including practical assignments and online quizzes.
Part-time considerations:
Designed for working professionals
Evening or recorded lectures
Additional prep and group work time
Timetable provided after registration
To help you to be successful on this course:
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honours (2:2) in a relevant engineering, computing, mathematics or science discipline with a significant mathematics and computing element.
Applicants must be comfortable with general programming in Python. Exposure to Python machine learning toolboxes is not a must but is advantageous.
Guidelines for your applications:
When applying, be sure to include the Module Code CE6002. We can’t process your application without it. You can apply for more than one module using the same application.
By applying, you confirm that you meet the entry requirements and can take part in the course and its assessments.
