Brief Description
Improving safety performance starts with understanding how people behave at work. In today’s workplaces, the cost of accidents is high for both people and productivity. While systems and procedures are essential, reducing risk also means influencing everyday behaviours.
This 6-week, Level 9 micro-credential introduces Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) as a practical, evidence-based approach to preventing workplace injuries.
You’ll explore the principles of behaviour change and learn how to design, implement and sustain a behavioural safety process.
Whether you work in safety, operations or leadership, this micro-credential gives you the practical tools to influence safety culture and drive improvements in practice.
This module is associated with the Professional Diploma in Health and Safety. It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award.
During this module, you will:
Understand the core principles and leadership behaviours behind effective behavioural safety
Apply peer-to-peer and team-based approaches to improve safety performance
Use performance indicators to measure behaviour change and maintain progress
Build confidence to design, implement and sustain a behavioural safety process in your organisation
