Data analytics is one of the most sought-after skill sets in today’s job market, driving smarter decisions across sectors like business, healthcare, and engineering. 

This 7-week, Level 9 micro-credential is ideal for professionals with a basic knowledge of python working in computing, engineering, science, or other technical fields who want to upskill in practical data analytics 

You’ll learn to clean, model, and visualise data, and build complete analytics workflows using industry-standard tools. 

Whether you’re enhancing your current role or preparing for a new opportunity, this module equips you with high demand, applied skills. 

This module is associated with the MSc in Artificial Intelligence. It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award.

During this module, you will: 

  • Develop core skills in data preparation, modelling, and visualisation using industry-standard analytics tools. 

  • Use foundational tools widely adopted in data science workflows to perform tasks such as exploratory analysis, modelling, and visualisation, and apply techniques including data cleaning, feature selection, classification, clustering, and regression. 

  • Learn to interpret and present data-driven insights to support decision-making across technical and business contexts. 

  • Boost your career opportunities in data-driven roles or progress towards a master’s degree in data analytics or artificial intelligence.  

Key Information: 

This micro-credential will be delivered online over 7 weeks. 

You will be continuously assessed through 3 assignments, to be handed up at the end of a 2-week block.  3 online quizzes, each to be taken also at the end of a 2-week block.

To help you to be successful on this course:  

  • Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honours (2:2) in a relevant engineering, computing, mathematics, science or technology discipline or a discipline that has a significant mathematics and computing element. 

  • You are expected to have completed a basic introduction to Python.

  • Completing this module doesn’t guarantee you a place in a full programme. If you want to apply for a full programme, you must meet the specific entry requirements for that programme.
