Brief Description
This online MSc in Engineering Practice is designed to support you in producing a significant, practice-focused research thesis that delivers measurable impact within your organisation.
It emphasises collaboration both with your fellow learners across diverse industries while giving you the flexibility to build on your previous studies and apply them directly to real-world engineering challenges in your workplace.
The MSc is open to learners who have already completed two Professional Diplomas or 60 ECTS Credits at Level 9 in areas such as aviation, operations management, ICT, artificial intelligence, data analytics, supply chain, or regulatory affairs.
The programme also supports Recognised Prior Learning for applicants who may have only one Professional Diploma but have a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
This programme provides learners not only the opportunity to drive improvements in engineering practices but also gain opportunities to showcase and apply their research work across professional and industry settings.
Particularly suited to mid to senior managers and experienced professionals seeking to strengthen their expertise and broaden their influence within their organisation.
During this programme, you will:

You will learn through a blend of:
- Lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities

Year 1
Autumn Semester
- Develop a thesis proposal and present it to a team of academics and invited industry experts.
- outlines the stages involved in completing a thesis from choosing a research topic to writing the research proposal to structuring and writing the thesis.
Spring Semester
- Complete your thesis and present it to an invited audience in a formal setting as part of your final assessment.
Relevant course materials - such as books and journal articles - will be available digitally via the UL Glucksman Library’s online resources.

- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in any discipline.
- You must also hold two Professional Diplomas at Level 9, amounting to 60 ECTS credits.
- Applicants who have completed one Professional Diploma at Level 9 (30 ECTS credits) and can demonstrate a minimum of five years of relevant industry experience may be considered for entry under the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Policy.
- Examples include relevant university Professional Diplomas (Level 9 award) in disciplines such as Supply Chain Management, ICT, Innovation, Data Analytics, Robotics, Regulatory Affairs, Health & Safety, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Operations Management, and Aviation.
Other Entry Considerations:
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet the standard entry requirements, as long as you can show that you have the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for the programme.

Please note that international study visas are only available to students studying full-time in Ireland. This programme does not qualify for a study visa.
Annual fees are billed by semester. Once registered, students may be eligible to apply for a monthly payment plan.
