Brief Description
Become a leader in workplace Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
This flexible, online programme empowers you to create inclusive environments and drive positive change across organisations and communities.
You will explore key EDI issues through law, linguistics, sociology and public administration, gaining practical strategies to address real-world challenges.
Choose between a one-year Graduate Certificate or a two-year Graduate Diploma, depending on your experience and professional goals.
During this programme, you will:
- Build a strong, interdisciplinary foundation in equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Explore practical strategies to promote inclusion in workplaces, communities and public services.
- Examine real-world case studies and apply academic research to everyday challenges.
- Learn from experts in law, linguistics, sociology and public administration.
- Strengthen your ability to lead EDI initiatives and influence organisational culture.
- Develop the confidence and skills to advocate for inclusive policies and practices.
Key Information:
- Complete part-time:
- Graduate Certificate: one year
- Graduate Diploma: two years

- Modules taught during autumn and spring semesters
- No final dissertation required
You will learn through a blend of:
- Lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities
- Reflective practice and guided research

Year 1
Autumn Semester
- introduces students to contemporary issues in workplace equality and diversity.
- heightens awareness of the role language plays in perpetuating exclusion and in promoting inclusion.
Spring Semester
- provides students with an understanding of the workings and jurisprudence of the European Convention on Human Rights.
- explores issues in advancing equality, diversity and inclusion and their impact on communities and professional organisations.
If you are enrolled in the Graduate Certificate, you will graduate at the end of the Spring Semester in Year 1.
If you are enrolled in the Graduate Diploma, you will progress to the Autumn Semester in Year 2.
Year 2
Autumn Semester
- explores legal theory and philosophy relating to ideas of justice and equality.
Spring Semester
- focuses on themes of collaborative governance and leadership.
- provides the knowledge and skills to manage perceived cultural barriers to work, integration and interpersonal relationships.
Books and journal articles needed for the course will be available online through the UL Glucksman Library.

- Applicants should hold a bachelor鈥檚 degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant or appropriate subject.
- The university may shortlist and invite you to an interview.鈥

- A supporting statement of 300-500 words outlining why you wish to apply for a place on your chosen programme. Please specify whether you wish to apply for the Certificate (1 year) or Diploma (2-year) programme. Students who have successfully completed the Graduate Certificate (or are currently enrolled and anticipate successful completion in the current academic year) may apply for direct entry into Year 2 of the Diploma. If you fall into this category, please specify it as part of your supporting statement. Offer of a place in this instance will depend on successful completion of all certificate modules.

Please note that international study visas are only available to students studying full-time in Ireland. This programme does not qualify for a study visa.
Annual fees are billed by semester. Once registered, students may be eligible to apply for a monthly payment plan.
