Brief Description

High-quality healthcare relies on research to inform decisions, improve outcomes and shape best practice.  

This 12-week, Level 9 micro-credential is designed for nurses, midwives and healthcare professionals who want to strengthen their ability to design, evaluate and apply health research in clinical or academic settings. 

³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô explore the core principles of research design, examine key methodologies, and learn how to select methods appropriate to different health contexts  

The module also helps you develop critical appraisal skills and understand the ethical and practical considerations involved in research with human participants.  

Whether you’re planning a project or building your confidence to use research in everyday decision-making, this micro-credential will support your development as an evidence-informed practitioner.  

This module is associated with:  

It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award. 

During this module, you will: 

  • Learn how to design a research study by exploring key paradigms, methods and ethical principles
  • Build your understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research approaches
  • Develop the skills to review literature, refine a research question and evaluate study design
  • Strengthen your ability to think critically about how research informs nursing and midwifery practice  

Key Information

This micro-credential will be delivered in a blended format over 12 weeks.  

You will be assessed using continuous online and written assessment with no final exam.

  • You should be a healthcare professional with an interest in developing research skills for evidence-based practice.
