Brief Description
UL’s one-year full time Master of Science in Human Resource Management (International) allows you to complete one semester in Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) in Spain.
This programme is the Dual Degree option offered on UL’s MSc in Human Resource Management.
At the end of your studies, you will receive HRM Master’s level degrees from both UL’s and UC3M.
The programme is designed to cover the full spectrum of HRM, from creating sustainable workplaces and developing ethical leadership skills to managing conflict, talent development, and global transformations in work.
You will also build strong research capabilities, engage in career-focused professional development, and complete an independent dissertation on a real HR challenge.
The programme’s first and last semesters are delivered in Ireland, and the Spring Semester is delivered in Madrid, Spain.
Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD). was ranked #1 in Spain by El Mundo in 2024.
During this programme, you will:
- Tackle the multiple challenges faced by HR professionals in today’s increasingly complex and globalised business environment.
- Design and implement people management processes compatible with the creation of sustainable working environments.
- Explore core theory underpinning effective people management including managing conflict, creating environments for sustainable and decent work, talent management and employment relations.
- Learn to balance operational and strategic issues and manage competing demands from multiple stakeholders.
- Examine key leadership concepts and skills required to become an ethical and effective leader in the workplace.
Key information:
- Complete full-time in one year
- Delivered on campus
- Modules taught during autumn and spring semesters
- Submit dissertation at the end of the summer semester
- Begin the autumn semester in Limerick, studying core modules from our MSc in Human Resource Management.
- In the spring semester (January to May), you’ll continue your studies at the Graduate Centre of Business at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), located at their Puerto de Toledo campus, completing the second semester of UC3M’s Master in HRM.
- All classes are delivered in English

Year 1
Autumn Semester (in Limerick)
- provides the knowledge to design and implement people management processes compatible with the creation of sustainable working environments.

- equips students to conduct empirical and applied research for the dissertation component of the programme.
- encourages greater employability and connectivity with industry by developing an appreciation of the needs, drivers and opportunities in the employment market.

Summer Semester
- provides direction and guidance for students in their dissertation research.
- enables students to apply independent research skills to an issue of importance in human resource management.
Books and journal articles needed for the course will be available online through the UL Glucksman Library.

- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant discipline such as human resource management; work and organisational psychology; business management.
- Applicants from other disciplines will also be considered if you have studied at least some of the following subjects in their undergraduate degrees – management, organisational behaviour, employment relations, industrial relations, employment law, individual psychology, social psychology, learning, conflict management, strategy.
- The university will shortlist and invite you to an interview.

- Personal statement – one page outlining your interest in the programme and explaining why your undergraduate education and/or work experiences meet the entry requirements of the programme.

- To make sure we can review your application quickly, please:
- Upload all documents. Your application can’t be reviewed until we have all the documents on the checklist. 
- Title the documents you are uploading. For example, "Personal Statement", "Undergraduate Transcript", "Postgraduate Transcript", "English Language Certificate" etc. 
- *If you are waiting to graduate, submit your application with the documents you have to date, you don’t need to have finished final exams before applying.
