Brief Description

Healthcare professionals are caring for increasingly diverse populations.  

This 12-week, Level 9 Micro-credential is designed for healthcare professionals who want to build the knowledge, skills and awareness needed to provide culturally competent care.  

³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô explore how culture, ethnicity, language and migration shape people’s health beliefs, behaviours and access to care.  

The module introduces models of cultural competence and encourages you to reflect on your own cultural identity, assumptions and communication style.  

³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô also examine how policies, systems and inequalities affect intercultural healthcare and learn how to work more confidently and respectfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds.  

This module is associated with  

It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award. 

During this module, you will: 

  • Explore how culture, ethnicity and language shape health beliefs and healthcare experiences 

  • Build awareness of your own cultural identity, assumptions and communication style 

  • Understand the challenges and opportunities of delivering culturally competent care 

  • Learn how to support inclusive, respectful practice across diverse healthcare settings

This micro-credential will be delivered in a blended format over 12 weeks. 

Assessment methods for the module include a presentation (20% assessment weighting) and an assignment (80% assessment weighting).
