Brief Description

Leadership in health professions education means more than teaching, it involves shaping learning environments, influencing curriculum, and supporting others to grow.  

This 6 week, Level 9 micro-credential is for healthcare professionals who want to develop their leadership capacity in clinical, academic or education-focused roles.  

³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô explore leadership theories and models, with a focus on collaborative working, educational change, and influencing policy and practice. ³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô also look at how leadership supports innovation, partnership and quality improvement in health professional education settings.  

Whether you're supporting learners in practice or leading education programmes, this module will help you reflect on your own leadership style and develop strategies to lead with purpose and impact.  

This module is associated with Health Professions Education - MSc. It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award. 

 

During this module, you will: 

Explore leadership theories and how they apply to healthcare education 

Mange change and build strategic plans in health professions education 

Reflect on your leadership style and its impact on learners, teams and systems 

Examine how leadership influences curriculum development and educational policy 

Build skills to lead collaborative, learner-focused improvements in health professional education 

Key Information

This micro-credential will be delivered online over 6 weeks. 

You will be assessed using an end of module assignment with no final exam.

  • Evening, weekend or recorded lectures

To help you to be successful on this course:   

  • Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in a subject related to health professions, education or management.  

  • You should have at least 2 years of clinical professional experience, or in the areas of in the health professions, education or management. 

  • If applicants have a lower result or an unrelated qualification, they may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they can provide evidence of work experience in a regulated sector (Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy). 

  • Successful completion of the MSc HPE online induction programme is a prerequisite for taking this module

  • Completing this module doesn’t guarantee you a place in a full programme. If you want to apply for a full programme, you must meet the specific entry requirements for that programme.
