Brief Description

The BA (Hons) in Management Practice is a delivered via Live, interactive online, skills-focused evening sessions, which are supported with Brightspace, our virtual learning environment, in addition to self-directed and applied learning. Designed for experienced management professionals to effect change, manage resources and collaborate across business functions, hone their leadership skills and creative ability (NFQ Level 8, 60 ECTS Credits).  

The programme is book-ended with two compulsory on-campus Saturday workshops, allowing participants to meet the programme team, fellow professionals, apply knowledge, facilitate discussion and collaboration, and debate content covered within online sessions.  

Designed for experienced management professionals to enhance the key competencies required to provide leadership, facilitate change, manage resources, collaborate across business functions and who wish to gain a formal internationally recognised management qualification. 

During this programme, you will:  

  • Learn to identify and integrate the fundamental principles of management in the context of an ever-changing and challenging business environment. 

  • Develop key skills and critical techniques in strategy development, problem-diagnostics and solutioning, innovation and creativity, team dynamics, operational, project, and resource management. 

  • Advance your professional standards and management practices, engage in reflective practice, self-evaluation, and personal development and career planning.

Year 1 

Autumn Semester

  • develops essential practical skills and capabilities for HR practitioners. 

  • provides a thorough appreciation of cross-cultural issues when managing organisations internationally. 

  • seeks to build a foundation for outstanding self-leadership through instructor-guided evaluative self-discoveries. 

Spring Semester  

  • addresses the role of the strategic manager in the private and public sector. 

  • develops an understanding of how the performance and effectiveness of an organisation can be assessed. 

  • outlines the benefits and limitations of economic analysis in studying business behaviour, and the effects of the real-world economy on business decision making. 

  • enables students to feel more empowered and in control of their professional and personal learning journey. 

Books and journal articles needed for the course will be available online through the UL Glucksman Library.

  • The programme is open to applicants who hold a Diploma in Management - Level 7 NFQ (ECTS 60 Credits) or an equivalent qualification. 

  • Applicants should have at least 3 years of relevant organisational experience.
