ReSHAPE Project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund Programme 2021-2027.
Optimising supply chains demands analytical thinking, strategic modelling, and practical tools to solve complex logistical challenges.
This 5-week, Level 9 micro-credential introduces mathematical and analytical modelling techniques for real-world supply chain decision-making.
You’ll explore linear programming, network models, and dynamic programming, while developing spreadsheet modelling skills to apply what you learn in practice.
Ideal for professionals working in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, aviation, and other data-driven sectors, this module builds the problem-solving capabilities needed to plan and improve supply chain performance.
This module is associated with the Professional Diploma Supply Chain Management and the MSc in Supply Chain Operations. It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award.
During this module, you will:
Learn how to build and apply linear, integer, and dynamic programming models to solve real-world supply chain problems.
Build practical mathematical modelling skills using spreadsheet tools and software to solve analytical challenges across logistics and production planning.
Strengthen your ability to analyse supply chain data, improve performance, and support data-driven strategic planning.
Gain the analytical capabilities to advance in supply chain roles or progress to further study.
This micro-credential is a single module which sits within the Professional Diploma Supply Chain Management and the MSc in Supply Chain Operations
Key Information:
This micro-credential will be delivered online over 5 weeks.
You will be assessed through continuous assessment, which includes two assignments based on lecture material, a case study project, and active participation in weekly online activities and discussions.
Part-time considerations:

To help you to be successful on this course:
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant discipline.
If applicants have a lower result or an unrelated qualification, they may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they can provide evidence of relevant work experience (Recognised Prior Learning).
Having a good understanding of basic mathematics and linear algebra would significantly help students succeed in the module.
Guidelines for your applications:
When applying, be sure to include the Module Code MF5001. We can’t process your application without it. You can apply for more than one module using the same application.
By applying, you confirm that you meet the entry requirements and can take part in the course and its assessments.
This course will go ahead if it meets minimum enrolment number.
Completing this module doesn’t guarantee you a place in a full programme. If you want to apply for a full programme, you must meet the specific entry requirements for that programme.
