Brief Description

The mission of the Professional Diploma in Project Management is to equip professionals with advanced project management expertise through a flexible, one-year, part-time online programme leading to a recognised university qualification.
Delivered by the Centre for Project Management at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ, and accredited by the PMI-GAC, this programme builds the knowledge and skills needed to plan, lead, and deliver projects that create real value for organisations.
It is aimed at people already working in project environments who want to enhance their leadership, decision-making, and planning capabilities, and is ideal preparation for those seeking to progress into more senior project or programme management roles.
This immersive, collaborative, online, virtual learning programme focuses on practical, work-based learning for progressive management practice.
This programme will earn 30 ECTS credits towards a Flexible Masters Pathway, allowing students to combine Postgraduate awards to achieve a Master’s over time.
During this programme, you will:
- Gain insights into the fundamental principles of project and programme management.
- Acquire the soft skills needed to successfully manage and lead projects, across any industry, on a global scale.
- Gain awareness of the importance of effective project leadership, with clear roles, responsibilities and appropriate governance structures in place.
- Develop business models and value solutions with a focus on long term sustainable benefits.
Key information:
- Complete part-time over two semesters (Sept – May)
- Delivered online
- Immersive, collaborative, online, virtual learning programme
- Modules taught during autumn and spring semesters
- Modules run in sequence in 5-week blocks in a structured format
- Can be used to complete 30 credits towards Master of Professional Practice (MPP) or MSc Engineering Practice

Year 1
Autumn Semester
- explores the core concepts and theories of project management science.
- focuses on understanding behaviour and people issues in projects.
Spring Semester
- provides a high-level perspective in developing organisation goals and objectives.
- raises awareness of the importance of effective leadership, having clear roles, responsibilities and appropriate actions.
- introduces the concepts and frameworks used to develop business models and value solutions through projects and programmes.
Books and journal articles needed for the course will be available online through the UL Glucksman Library.

- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant or appropriate discipline.
- The university may shortlist and invite you to an interview.
- You should have at least 4 years of relevant work experience, particularly in a project-related setting.
Other Entry Considerations:
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet the standard entry requirements, as long as you can show that you have the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for the programme.

- Upload all documents. Your application can’t be reviewed until we have all the documents on the checklist. 
- Title the documents you are uploading. For example, "Personal Statement", "Undergraduate Transcript", "Postgraduate Transcript", "English Language Certificate" etc. 
- *If you are waiting to graduate, submit your application with the documents you have to date, you don’t need to have finished final exams before applying.

Please note that international study visas are only available to students studying full-time in Ireland. This programme does not qualify for a study visa.
Annual fees are billed by semester. Once registered, students may be eligible to apply for a monthly payment plan.
