Brief Description

Ensuring public funds are spent fairly, transparently and legally is a critical responsibility for public bodies.   

This 5-week, Level 8 micro-credential introduces you to public procurement policy, reform programmes and professional standards in procurement governance in Ireland.   

³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô explore strategic planning, ethical practice, and how digital systems like eTenders and Dynamic Purchasing frameworks support compliance and decision-making.  

Designed for professionals working in or aspiring to roles in procurement, operations or supply chain functions, this module supports better procurement outcomes across sectors and enhances your ability to align procurement activity with broader organisational and policy goals.  

This module is associated with the Public Procurement & Supply Chain Excellence - Diploma. It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award.

During this module, you will: 

  • Develop a strategic procurement plan that aligns with Irish and EU legislation, national policy, and procurement reform priorities. 

  • Explore how economic, social and environmental factors shape ethical, sustainable and risk-aware procurement decisions. 

  • Apply national public procurement practices using key ICT tools such as eTenders and Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS). 

  • Strengthen your ability to lead procurement activities that support compliance, governance and organisational performance.

This micro-credential will be delivered online over 5 weeks.  

You will be assessed through continuous skill-based assignments, provided by your lecturer.

To help you to be successful on this course:   

  • Applicants should have completed an NFQ level 7 qualification in management or equivalent qualification.  

  • If applicants have an unrelated qualification or relevant experience, they may be considered on a case-by-case basis in line with the UL RPL (Recognised Prior Learning) Policy.
