Brief Description
Enhance your strategic understanding of global supply chain operations through the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s one-year, part-time Certificate in Supply Chain Management, specialising in Production and Inventory Control.
Delivered online and grounded in ASCM’s internationally recognised body of knowledge, and using SCOR DS Model, this Level 7 programme explores key disciplines including demand planning, procurement management, quality assurance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence frameworks.
Designed for professionals seeking to optimise end-to-end supply chain performance, the course equips participants with the analytical and practical capabilities to assess, manage, and improve production and inventory functions across international business environments.
Graduates will earn a Level 7 Certificate in Supply Chain Management (Production and Inventory Control), positioning them for advanced roles in supply chain planning, operations, and performance improvement.
During this programme, you will:

Year 1
Autumn Semester
- Explores a broad range of supply chain frameworks to support structured and systems-based thinking.
- Examines the strategic importance of forecasting and scheduling in supply chain operations.
- Applies core principles of demand management, sales and operations planning (S&OP), master scheduling, and distribution planning.
- Develops analytical capabilities in diagnosing and addressing key supply chain management challenges.
Spring Semester
- Focuses on the design, execution, and optimisation of supply chain operations.
- Investigates strategic decision-making processes within global supply chain contexts.
- Provides insight into procurement principles and the strategic role of purchasing within the organisation.
- Equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to support and advance Ireland’s transport and logistics sector.
Summer Semester
- Enables students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world industrial challenges through problem-solving and innovation.
- Focuses on the development of professional competencies essential for supply chain management roles.
Books and journal articles needed for the course will be available online through the UL Glucksman Library.

- You should possess a minimum of 2 years operational experience within an organisational setting, ideally in roles aligned with logistics, procurement, inventory control, or supply chain coordination.
- Applicants should currently hold, or aspire to hold, a supervisory or first-line management position within the supply chain or inventory management domain.
- The university may shortlist and invite you to an interview.
