Brief Description
Caring for people with life-limiting illness involves more than managing pain, it’s about supporting the whole person and those close to them.
This 12-week, Level 9 micro-credential is for registered nurses and healthcare professionals who want to build their skills in providing effective, person-centred palliative care.
You will learn how to assess and manage common symptoms such as pain, fatigue and altered mobility using both medication and non-drug approaches.
You will explore how to respond to emergencies in palliative care and how to support people through physical, emotional and spiritual changes.
You’ll also reflect on the unique needs of people and families at the end of life, and how working as part of a team helps improve care across different settings.
This module is associated with Nursing (Palliative Care) – MSc. This module can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award.
