Brief Description

Translational research bridges the gap between research and practice, helping healthcare professionals turn evidence into action.   

This 12-week, Level 9 micro-credential is for Allied Health professionals  who want to lead or contribute to projects that implement evidence-based change.  

³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô explore what translational research means in a healthcare setting and how to move from identifying a clinical problem to designing and applying a solution.   

This module covers implementation science, comparative effectiveness research, guideline development, and participatory approaches including public and patient involvement (PPI).  

Throughout the module you’ll build practical skills in research ethics, project planning and dissemination and learn how to embed knowledge translation into every stage of your inquiry.  

This module is associated with Healthcare Practice - Professional Doctorate. It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award. 

During this module, you will: 

  • Formulate research questions from clinical problems using translational research principles 

  • Evaluate and apply implementation strategies to support evidence-based change in practice 

  • Develop a research protocol using participatory approaches and prepare it for ethical approval 

  • Build dissemination and knowledge translation into the design and delivery of your research 

Key Information

This micro-credential will be delivered online over 12-weeks. 

You will be assessed using continuous online assessment with no final exam.

To help you to be successful on this course: 

  • You must hold a recognised health-related professional qualification.   

  • You must be a registered with a relevant professional statutory body, e.g., NIMBI, CORU, PHECC.
