From Gaoth Dobhair originally, Ciarán Ó Maonaigh is one of the masters of the modern Donegal fiddle tradition. Channelling his family’s lineage of traditional music alongside the influence of fiddlers from around Ireland, including Seán Keane and John Doherty, Ciarán’s musical voice is distinct, yet distinctly of his home region. Also a highly regarded television producer and director, Ciarán has been at the helm of many of the most popular television shows and films about Irish traditional music, including the TG4 series ‘Se mo Laoch. His new record Caillte sa Cheol / Lost in the Music, recorded by and featuring Sean Óg Graham is a stunning new addition to the Donegal music canon.
