UL Library’s Collection Development and Management Policy has been reviewed and updated following a comprehensive consultation and approval process. The Collection Development and Management Policy guides the development of the University’s scholarly collections managed by the library​. UL's previous Collection Development and Management Policy was published in 2019.

The revised policy now aligns with the UL Policy Management Framework, reflects the Library’s new organisational structure implemented in 2022, updates references to legislation and University policies, and places greater emphasis on digital collections in teaching and learning. It also integrates Special Collections and Archives and Open Research collection management, with language refined for clarity and accessibility. The update introduces clearer terminology around donations. By incorporating Special Collections and strengthening open research practices, this policy sets a forward-looking standard for collection management.
