Registration is now open Picture This! 2026. 

Communicating research is one of the most essential and challenging skills for PhD researchers. 

To assist our doctoral candidates communicate their research to the academic community and beyond, UL Doctoral College has organised an annual competition since 2022 called Picture This!

Contestants are asked to submit an original photo giving a visual perspective on their research, plus an accompanying caption in 60 words explaining the connection between the picture and their research.  

All submitted images and captions are voted on by an external panel of experts, with the Top Ten entries chosen to be exhibited in The Plaza during UL Research Week. 

Cash Prizes for top 3 contestants ​+ Trophy

€500 - 1st Place 

€250​ - 2nd Place 

€150 - 3rd Place

In order to enter the competition, please complete the PICTURE THIS 2026 APPLICATION FORM and the UL MEDIA RELEASE FORM
