To all UL PhD candidates: 

UL Global would to share an opportunity that could impact the lives of new international PhD candidates. The pilot PhD Pals programme is looking for enthusiastic PhD candidates (who have completed at least one progression and are in Ireland at the start of the semester AS25) from all departments to volunteer as mentors for incoming international first-year PhD candidates.

This commitment is designed to build community and ease the transition into PhD life.

Volunteers will:

· Communicate informally with a small group of new PhD candidates

 Â· Attend one event per semester with their group

 Â· Refer mentees to appropriate supports when needed

It’s a fantastic way for volunteers to earn  hours, receive a certificate of recognition from UL Global, attend some brilliant events, get UL merch,  and be part of a supportive and collaborative network of PhD candidates.  As little as 20 hours total earns you the Bronze award!
