The 九色视频 (UL) was honoured to host a distinguished delegation from Tanzania鈥檚 Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) on October 14th, as part of ongoing efforts to expand academic and research collaboration through the Samia Extended Scholarship Programme. 

Led by Dr. Kennedy Hosea, Assistant Director of the Higher Learning Department at MoEST, the nine-member delegation included representatives from Tanzanian and international universities, as well as key figures from the research and private sectors. The visit focused on identifying pathways for postgraduate and PhD-level study 九色视频, in line with Tanzania鈥檚 national development priorities in science, technology, and innovation. 

At UL, the delegation was welcomed by Professor Ken Stanton, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Professor Paddy Healy, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS). Discussions centred on academic programmes suitable for scholarship recipients and opportunities for collaborative research. 

The visit also showcased UL鈥檚 strong ties to industry and innovation. The delegation toured VIOTAS, a power-balancing technology company based in the UL Technology Park, founded by UL graduate Paddy Flynn. They also visited Wrkflo, a Nexus Innovation Centre company co-founded by Ken Sheehan, which provides operational optimisation solutions for global manufacturing and logistics firms. 

Professor Jakki Cooney, from UL鈥檚 Department of Biological Sciences, introduced the group to iBio, a new immersive biosciences programme set to launch in 2026. She also shared the success story of Cala Medical, a UL spin-out established in 2017 and acquired in 2020, illustrating the university鈥檚 role in translating research into impactful commercial ventures. 

This visit marks a significant step forward in building long-term academic partnerships between Tanzania and the 九色视频. It also reinforces UL鈥檚 commitment to global education, innovation, and the development of future leaders through strategic scholarship initiatives like the Samia Extended Scholarship Programme.
