CSIS - Lero@UL Athena SWAN Silver Award
The Department of Computer Science & Information Systems - CSIS, together with Lero - Research Ireland Centre for Software in the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, have been recognised with an Athena SWAN Silver Award for its commitment to supporting gender equality, diversity and inclusion for all employees and students.
Athena SWAN provides Higher Education Institutions in Ireland with a framework to assess barriers to equality, diversity and inclusion, and build capacity for evidence-based equality work. CSIS and Lero-UL could demonstrate that progress has been achieved since our Bronze Award in 2022, and have now a new Action Plan for 2025-2030.
Dr Martina Prendergast and Dr Lilian Motti are co-chairing the Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team, from the preparation for the Silver Award application to the implementation and impact assessment of the Silver Action Plan.
As part of the Quality Review, a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee has been formed to ensure the Silver Action Plan is embedded in the research, teaching & learning, and outreach activities.
The EDI committee is chaired by Dr Gavin Wade. Members include Dr Tabea De Wille (Student Equality Officer), Dr Nikola Nikolov (Staff Career Development Officer), Dr Marie Travers, Sean O’Brien and Gillian Place.
