David O'Brien has been honoured with one of the Best Student Talk awards at the prestigious Photonics Ireland 2025 conference, held in early September in Cork and hosted by IPIC and the Tyndall Institute. His presentation, titled "Varying the illumination patterns for coherent super-resolution microscopy beyond image scanning microscopy (ISM)," showcased innovative research at the forefront of advanced microscopy.
Supervised by Christophe Silien and Ning Liu, David's work impressed the judging panel and secured him one of only three top student awards at the event. This achievement highlights both his talent and the exciting research emerging from the group - warm congratulations to David on this outstanding accomplishment!

Conference Awards: Dr Krittish Roy
The department would like to wish congratulations to Dr Krittish Roy. Krittish was awarded the Dilis Das-Gupta Memorial Award at the 20th International Symposium on Electrets, for his presentation on Self-powered Piezo-/Pyroelectric Integrated Devices Using Electrospun Fluoropolymer Electret Fibers.

Dr Krittish Roy won the prestigious Dilip Das-Gupta Award for Best Oral Presentation
Congratulations to Dr Krittish Roy who received the prestigious Dilip Das-Gupta Award for Best Oral Presentation from the IEEE Dielectric and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) at the 20th International Symposium of Electrets (ISE20) held in Matsue, Japan.
Krittish extends gratitude to his supervisor and long-standing Bernal PI member Tofail Syed for his unwavering support and guidance. Well done again from the Bernal Community.
