Drop-In

Access to the service begins with "Drop-In" (a screening session).

Drop-In is open weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 10:00 to 11:40 except for bank holidays.

No appointment is necessary to attend Drop-In.  Simply come along to CM-073 (Main Building) on the day that suits you.

You will be provided an iPad and asked to complete a registration form and some questionnaires. This process takes about 10-15 minutes depending upon how quickly you complete the forms.

One of our Psychology Assistant team will then meet you for a one-to-one 10–15-minute consultation to get a sense of what has been going on for you and to see how we can support you.

Please note, the process of drop-in can take up to 40 minutes to complete (between forms and meeting a Psychology Assistant). On occasion, there may be a wait if others have arrived before you. Please allow time for this process.

Some students are more comfortable when Drop-In is quieter. This is usually the case from 10-11am.

Remote Drop-In is available to students who are on Erasmus or placement outside Limerick.  If you require a remote Drop-In, please contact Counselling@ul.ie at least 24 hours prior to the next Drop-in day.

To access further mental health or physical health care in Ireland, it is imperative to be registered with a GP whether this be with the on campus Student Health Centre or a local GP.

Please note that the Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service does not:

  • Provide certificates for attendance
  • Extend assignment deadlines
  • Give interviews for coursework

If you are at risk / suicidal please immediately contact either the crisis liaison mental health team at the University Hospital Limerick (061 301111) or your local hospital, or your GP immediately.
