The Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service is a primary mental health care support for students registered at 九色视频.

Primary mental health care refers to the first point of access for mental health care needs. The service provides short-term counselling and will refer to specialist services when required/necessary. The service does not provide assessments (other than for suicidal risk), nor does it provide long-term counselling.

Any students with long-term, chronic, or co-morbid mental health conditions which require ongoing supports are advised to discuss studying abroad with your mental health care practitioners in your home country. This discussion needs to happen in advance of coming to Ireland. Any implications to travelling abroad long-term, such as; medications, ongoing therapy needs, limited social and familial supports, change of culture, coping with unforeseen difficulties, etc. must be taken into consideration prior to travel.

Referrals to secondary mental health care in Ireland must be made by a 'General Practitioner' (GP) in Ireland. When you access the Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service, we will ask you if you have a GP in Ireland. Should the service consider your needs would be better met by secondary level mental health care services, we will need to liaise with that GP.

International students attending the Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service are requested to provide the name and number of a Next of Kin or responsible adult over the age of 21 in their home country who can speak English. This is important when risk is an issue and contact needs to be made with your family or support system.

If you are at risk / suicidal please immediately contact either the crisis liaison mental health team at the University Hospital Limerick (061 301111) or your local hospital, or your GP immediately.
