As the January Conferring Ceremonies conclude, the Department of Politics and Public Administration applauds graduate Mireia Castells March (pictured), who received the Peter Mair Prize for Best MA Thesis in Politics and Public Administration. Mireia's dissertation, Hegemony or Barbarism – A Case Study of the “Ireland Says No” Movement Focused on Its Ideological Construction within Neoliberalism, impressed examiners with its engaging writing, theoretical depth, and original empirical analysis.
The Peter Mair Prize commemorates Professor Peter Mair, a distinguished scholar of Irish and comparative politics who began his academic career at the ɫƵ. Mireia’s outstanding work makes her a fitting recipient of this honour.
Miera was celebrated alongside many other PPA students who received their degrees at the graduation ceremonies on January 20. Among the new PPA graduates were alumni from the MA in International Studies, MA in Peace and Development Studies, and MA in Politics. Two PPA PhD researchers, Dr Anna Filipp (supervised by Conor Little and Frank Haege) and Dr Roumaissa Nora Sayoud (supervised by Owen Worth and Maria Hickey, MLAL) were also awarded their degrees at the same ceremony. Warmest congratulations to all!
