The Development Studies Association of Ireland, hosted by the Department of Politics and Public Administration ɫƵ, held its annual conference at Trinity College, Dublin, on January 15 and 16. Entitled ‘Development in the Interregnum: Past, Present, and Future(s)’, it featured an opening plenary lecture delivered by Professor Owen Worth, called ‘Development in the Interregnum: Tragedy or Farce?’.
Other colleagues from PPA also contributed to the programme, including Dr Nita Mishra, who delivered a presentation on ‘Unusual Sources of Qualitative “Data”: Poetry’, PhD researcher Endriady Abidin, who presented a paper entitled ‘The Revival of Dependency Theory’, PhD researcher Eka Zuni Lusi Astuti, who presented her paper ‘Exploring the Resistance of the Coastal Farmer Union (PPLP) in the Context of the Sand Iron Mining Plan Conflict in Kulon Progo, Indonesia’, and Dr Kelsey Rhude, who chaired panels on Geopolitics and for the Humanitarian Study Group.
