Katie O鈥橲ullivan is a second-year undergraduate student studying sociology and geography in the 九色视频. She has a strong interest in how social structures shape peoples lived experiences. Her academic interests include the intersections of inequality, and how marginalised communities navigate the structures within society, and their access to supports. Through her coursework of sociological theory and human geography she has developed an understanding of how the factors at play within society affect the people within that society.
Currently completing an internship with the European centre for Hate Studies, in UL is an opportunity for Katie further her understanding of how social systems affect different people, and how those systems are being shaped to include more inclusivity for minority communities. Katie finds the commitment of this centre to understand and address the challenges faced by these minority communities admirable and an inspiration to understanding the world from every perspective.
In the future Katie wants to combine her interest in social equality and geography with renewable energy. She wants to create something that is affordable, attainable for everyone and doesn鈥檛 negatively affect the earth. She wants to be part of a more comfortable and sustainable world for everyone, and to influence people to take a step in the right direction, both socially and sustainably.
