Claire Friel 鈥 Graduate of the MSc Nursing (Dementia Care), Donegal Mental Health Services
鈥淚 chose this programme because I always gravitated towards caring for the older person, particularly dementia. I noticed this when I was an intern and that continued throughout my career. I thought this course would provide me with the necessary skills and knowledge that I would need to move further into the field.
Going back to study was quite a daunting experience for me... but after returning to it, it was a lot less daunting than I thought it would be. My assignments were focused on things I could bring back to the ward and vice-versa. I like the blended approach as it combined your course work and your work together. You were able to do the course work in your own time so there was less need to be in Limerick.鈥
