Brief Description
Economic thinking plays a vital role in solving real-world problems and shaping public policy.
This 12-week, Level 9 micro-credential is designed for professionals who do not have a strong background in economics but want to study the subject at postgraduate level.
³Û´Ç³Ü’l±ô explore key public policy issues such as taxation, inequality, inflation, and public spending, and learn how to evaluate them using applied economic tools.
This module is associated with the MSc in Economics and Policy Analysis. It can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award.
During this module, you will:
- Develop an understanding of core economic concepts used in real-world public policy debates, applying economic reasoning to analyse issues such as taxation, inflation, and public spending.
- Enhance your ability to critically evaluate policy decisions using applied data and research.
- Gain transferable skills in economic thinking that are highly valued across the public, private, and non-profit sectors
- Build credits to advance to a master's degree in economics.
Key Information:
This micro-credential will be delivered online over 12 weeks.
You will be assessed through recorded presentation and essays.
The micro-credential is complementary to the Contemporary Issues in Economics and Policy micro-credential.

To help you to be successful on this course:
- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree ( Level 8) with at least a second-class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in any discipline.
