The Health Research Institute (HRI) and the Ageing Research Centre (ARC) at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ are proud to celebrate a momentous achievement by one of their most esteemed members and co-directors, Professor Rose Galvin, who has been awarded the Presidential Medal by the Irish Gerontological Society (IGS)—one of the highest honours in the field of ageing research in Ireland.

This prestigious accolade recognises Professor Galvin’s outstanding contributions to gerontology, her leadership in advancing integrated care models for older adults, and her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of ageing populations through evidence-based research and policy influence.

As a founding member of the HRI and co-director of the Ageing Research Centre, and a former Vice President of the Irish Gerontological Society (2019–2022), Professor Galvin has played a pivotal role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring the next generation of researchers in ageing and allied health.

The Presidential Medal is a testament to her dedication, innovation, and leadership in gerontology. It also reflects the values and mission of the HRI and the Ageing Research Centre—to drive impactful research that enhances the health and wellbeing of older people in Ireland and beyond.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Galvin on this well-deserved honour and look forward to her continued contributions to the field.
