Dr Niamh Cummins, Associate Professor in Public Health at the ɫƵ and HRI member, featured in a recent Irish Examiner article examining patient care at University Hospital Limerick (UHL).

The piece highlights findings from HIQA, noting that patients presenting at UHL tend to be more seriously ill compared to other large hospitals. Dr Cummins provided expert insight into why this may be the case:

Her contribution underscores the essential role UHL plays as a regional centre for advanced emergency and critical care, and the importance of understanding patient complexity when evaluating hospital performance.
